So I thought I would start deer hunting this fall. I`m lucky to have a lot of friends who have been hunting for years as well as a group of buddies that are newbies like myself. Having people to help you and give advice is invaluable. I never realized how addictive it can be chasing deer around. I figure I am hooked for the rest of my life now. My buddy turned me on to HBC and it has been a big help and an inspiration as well. I really enjoy seeing everyone else's pics and stories here so heres my contribution and hopefully they can inspire other new guys to keep at it when it seems like all the deer are gone. Don`t have time to tell every detail, thats probably better over a few beers but heres a quick rundown on my first fall.
Bagged my first deer ever near Red Lake on Oct 23. Hunting with my buddy Paul and we got this guy. Stayed at the cabins that are advertised on here all the time. Great spot.

A nice 3x2 and glad we had the Rhino to get him out. An amazing feeling and a great time cruising around hunting grouse while looking for the bucks.
Harvested this Whitey doe on Oct 28 near Tunkwa lake resort. My friends own the resort so I spent a bit of time there this year. Amazing area and great people. All the guys there helped a lot with advice. Borrowed Rich`s(Bushy) old 270 Parker-Hale and took this girl from about 150 m. Hiked for 5 days before I got a shot off. I missed a chance earlier in the week when I missed three does very close to me. I spooked them and they took off flags flying and it was a good lesson to slow down and really look around.

Bagged this Black-tail near Whistler two days ago. Been hiking around the area like crazy and it paid off. Took me almost 5 hours to get him in the truck and heading home. Had to drag him down the mountain I just climbed up. And no one was coming to help. -16 out and pitch black, what a shit show. Got him down but he looked like he was hit by a car. Wore the fur right off him in a few spots. Hope he is tasty after all that. I found the bullet while skinning him. 32 Win spl

Thats about it. Ran into a mom bear and cub on the first day of the season near Whis. Fell asleep in the bush near Logan Lake one day in Oct and was woken up by a cougar that had followed me down the mountain. We had a stare down for about 5 mins but I never shot him. Lots more going on in the bush than I ever imagined. A few days left for everyone so good luck and next year I am going for a big boy!
