Well i took my 11 year old son on his first trip this year and i have to say i am very proud of all the hard work he put in hikeing with not so much as a wimper. The weather was very warm and animals scares but on the last day around 2:00 we managed to connect on this little fella. Man was my boy pumped to get some meat after all his efort. would have been nice for him to pull the trigger but he didn't care either way.http://i935.photobucket.com/albums/ad193/brankevgra/DSC00992.jpg?t=1290624952

Congrats, Dougan! Looks like you've got yourself a keen young hunter there. The memories of the experience taking an animal together with your child is something that will last a lifetime. I'm sure he'll be pulling the trigger plenty of times in the future. Sometimes it's hard for us adults to understand that kids care more about being together with us in the outdoors than about who shoots what. Those memories will come back to you every time you grill a few of those tasty steaks for dinner and the excitement for next season will continue to build.

Good on ya Dougan. I have great memories of going out with my old man many years ago, and we hardly ever got anything. It was more about the quality time I was able to spend with Dad. Things have changed over the years and we are fortunate enough to harvest game every year these days. That is a great meat buck you have there. I'm sure your son will remember that trip forever, and soon you'll have a hard time keeping up to him in the bush and harvesting as many nice animals. Well done, SH.
