I went out Saturday to try for my WT.
One quad in before me and as I was hoping on my quad another hunter passed by. I thought no one will be where I am going. Wrong ! The second guy ended up walking the gully I wanted to hunt. Oh well its a big hill. I let him hunt that area and went farther up only to see the first guy in was hunting the area I was going to try. No problem I will just walk in a slash and sit.
Not 10 mins after I settle in I hear a shot then a "woo hoo". I could not help but laugh. (side note: I saw the guy on his quad later and the buck was huge).
I was looking over the hill side and see a buck and it pushed out a doe & 3 of this years fawns. Thinking I might not get out much I took a good look at him (4x4) and decided to take him. Just as I was about to squeeze the trigger a 5x5 came out and he was a keeper. But it was a 250 plus yard shot. No problem but there were trees in the way. I waited for him to clear and as I raised my 300 a 6x7 came in to the cut block. He was the biggest typical I have ever seen and the second biggest WT ever. The two big bucks started to circle each other with their ears back and grunting loudly.
Not want to make a bad shot I waited for ever (10 seconds) for him to come into a opening in the trees. I squeezed the trigger and he stopped. I must have jerked the trigger. I squeeze the next round and nothing. I must have hit branches both times. The deer quickly moved away. I hoped I hit him so I searched the area for almost 2 hours and not even a hair. Piss me off.
Dad & I went out Sunday and I saw the 4x4 at 125 yards but I wanted the big guy. We had to leave after 2 hours because Dad was not feeling good (he is diabetic).
That brings us to today.
I went to try a different area and saw nothing. I wanted to stretch my legs and go for a walk down a skidder trail. Not 10 mins later a buck jumps up 100 yards away and runs for cover with the does right behind him. I tried to stop him with a loud/long grunt but he kept going so I pulled the trigger at 150 yards and down he went.

Loading this guy on my own was tough.

I had to stand on the quad to get him this far.

Just a quick note. The deer have been bedding down until late in the morning.
And the bucks are with the does or looking for does. The next few days should be very good.

Thanks. My first shot put him down and he would eventually have died but I never like to let a animal suffer so a final shot to the neck when he lifted his head.

Just a quick note: I think this buck was about 3 1/2 years old. He had very little staining on his front teeth and slight wear on the back teeth. Wish I could have seen him in 2 years. He might have looked like the 6x7. he did have 2 smaller points coming out from the bases but were not long enough to count.
