Went out a couple of days ago to a new area and found a huge amount of sign including rubs, scrapes and a fight scene with blood. Really quite interesting actually but I didn't see much in the way of deer.
So I went back today and was there before first light hiking my way in. I got to a predetermined spot and did a bit of estrus doe calling with some tending grunts but nothing came in. As I hiked along the mountain I was afforded a view of the fields in the valley bottom, occasionally I would stop and glass the deer in the fields that were very active for 9 am. Finally I ended up back at my hot zone where the majority of rubs/scrapes were and as I crept along I spotted this beauty buck which I managed to harvest. All in all it was a great day.
Oh, and the snow made dragging the little bugger out so much nicer!
