I'm going to Nanaimo next week for the day. While my son goes on a tour of the University I want to take one of my dogs training.

Where can I go?

I'd like some place quiet, that it is O.K. to shoot remote launchers. Too cold for water so just land will do. Willing to drive an hour.

Any suggestions???

Thanks,
Kasomor

Nanaimo Estuary on the south side of the Duke Point Ferry. Some portions are not allowable for training, however I've never had a problem there. You might encounter dog walkers or birders who may have an opinion about what you are doing.
The fields on the right when you pass through the gates are nice for blinds. Lots of natural cover along with a nice berm to run from. If you are using a launcher, it's a good place for "leave it " drills.
Whenever I've been there it's with upisland training pals, so my time spent there is limited.
It's my understanding that there is some security issues with your vehicle.
Have fun & hope the snow is gone when you come to the island.
Today is a snow day for all of us and the fireplace is nice and cozy :-D

Thanks, that sounds good.

Do you know the name of the road that takes you into the gate?

Snow, snow go away :)

It's at the end of Raines Rd. which is off Cedar Rd..
5mins. off the Duke Point Ferry.

I'd enjoy coming and training with you but I'm heading south of the border in couple of days.:icon_frow

Hey Deb,

Thanks for the directions. I did mean to tell you that I made it over...a week later then what we planned....went to the spot you told me about.

It is a great. Counted 15 eagles even before getting out of the truck so it felt just like home :-D

Wish I had more time to play but got in some good drills.

Thanks again for your help.

Cheers,
Linda

Lots of terrain to do blinds there too.
Glad you liked it. Call me if you ever get over again!
