Anyone here use rimfire to hunt turkeys with. I'm intrigued with trying this. Shot turkeys with 12 ga and want to try something different. I'm thinking only the .17 WMR and .22 WMR have the range needed. Anyone have any ideas about this ?

In the spring we have pretty good success calling turkey's in, but sometimes they hang up just like an elk and won't come all the way in....these are the days I wish I had the good old rimfire .22 or a 17 people use them, give it a try.

buddy shot one this year with his 22. Thats all he uses even for grouse.

Use the 17 HMR for head shots. Should be good for 100 yards. I can bust clay pigions laying on a bank with it all day.

Sure you can kill a turkey with a rimfire. But what's the fun in that. If you want an exciting hunt grab your calls and decoys and get out there this spring. Put some time in and you'll find lots of birds to play with. Nice thing about turkeys is if you mess up you can try the same bird again the next day and the next and the next...

Well said Brad..... Turkeys are just too much fun not to call in if possible. OR Huntwriter will give me $#^& for this but stalking a flock of turkeys with the gauge is a pretty good challenger too.

I've taken mine with archery tackle. All that extra movement adds to the difficulty factor. But then that just means I get to spend more time hunting.

i use a 22, head shot or neck shot. each bird i hve taken pretty much could have been with shot or bow though.

All but one bird taken with a Bruno .22. Any shot to the vitals or head does the trick..Within decent range of course..
