We saw some whiteys running up the hill in front of us, so we thought we would put the sneak on them. As we were looking up the hill we noticed a spike and doe muley. Junior says he wants some jerky and sausage and does not care how many points are on the buck as long as there is at least 1. I said ok lets go get him. As we were sneaking to get a broadside shot and make sure the doe is not beside him we see 6 whiteys running away from us. 3 of the deer were 3 pointers. So I said to junior "change of plans lets go after the whiteys".

The whiteys take off up the hill and so we go up the hill thru a coulee to get to the top of the knoll to see if they went over to the clearing. When we were at the top of the knoll about 100 yards up we could see them still running about 1000 yards away. I said to junior "we will never catch up to a whitey buck running up hill away from us, lets go get the muley if you want too". He said OK.

As we were walking down the hill suddenly three more whitey does burst out of the shruberry about 40 yards away. They were running so fast the junior could not get a shot. So....... back to plan 1, the spiker muley. Not 20 yards later I see a head and 2 decent size spikes. The buck was bedded down and just chewing away at this morning grass. I said to junior you are going to have to take a head shot. It was about 80-90 yards away. Junior gets down on 1 knee, shoots and the deer just tipped over. I said "good shot" lets go see him.

Can't type out all at once, I'm at work and it times out on me. This is the second time I am writing this story.
Anyways......... we get to the deer and see that it was a nice bodied spike muley. The drag downhill took about half an hour. When we got to the truck an older fellow gives me the gears about shooting an illegal buck. This guy was pretty cranky at me. I explained to him that I did not shoot it and that junior got it and that it was fine for a junior to hunt "any muley buck". He got back into his truck all in a huff and booted otta there in a big hurry. I don't know about anybody else but I would not give somebody the gears out in bush and start accusing somebody about illegal this or that. I would let the co worry about that if I was concerned. Your open up the possibily of getting hurt.
Can any give me pm me their e-mail address and I/we can post a picture?
