Hey guys,
My dad and I hosted our friend Dan (known on HBC as trapperdan2061) to a duck and goose hunt today. We had a blast!!... literally
We met Dan at Timmy Ho's at 4:30 am, and we were off to our location, hoping for a good hunt as we had not scouted this area yet this year. After making a good trek out, we set up the blind, 14 goose decoys, and a dozen ducks.
Lots of ducks before legal light cruising around. First flock of the day was a flock of mallards... and Dan pulls a 2 in 1!! After that we had pretty steady flocks of primarily widgeons decoying for the rest of the morning. Had many moments of rough shooting in the cold wet windy weather... but we still managed 20 by 10:30 am. A good mix of Mallards, Widgeon, and Pintail.
Definately could'a had our 4 more, but we were satisfied and were pulling out by 11 am. No geese today, except a flock of like 400 flying far in the distance. Even shot a hen Euro Widgeon in the bunch!
All in all, the three of us had a great time joking around and sharing the blind.
