Have any of you jet boaters heard of the Ecotec engines being used in jet boats and on their website the power to weight ratio is very good. Just heard about them and looking for some insight. Looking at a new engine for my 19' boat and I will be using it primarily for hunting the Northern rivers on week long trips with 2 or three guys. Cheers.

should be able to get one here for less as they are a universal chev engine use in a number of cars.

They seem like a really good powerplant option for a smaller boat .

Not sure if i would want a super charged unit but a naturally asperated engine with a closed cooling system would be a nice engine for a smaller boat.

go onto the boating forums as there is a bit of info on them there.

i thnk jet boats of montana might use those also

They are becoming more popular. Only been out for a while. A few of the builders are starting to try them out .
American Turbine has just released a few new pumps and impellors that were designed to perform with these smaller engines.
Hell's Canyon Marine Built a little screamer using this engine if I remember right.
Not my cup of tea,I'll stay with the bigger engines, but if you run skinny water in a light jetboat these may catch on.
Don't know about longevity as they haven't been out in mass usage in the jetboat industry really.

The supercharged one has 252 HP at around 343 lbs.
