Rut is on south island!!

Hey guys and gals just got a call from my buddy on the other side of Shawnigan Lake from me, said he had a distracted buck wondering his property and didn't seem to care he was there. Grabbed his bow to see if he could catch up and close the gap and bumped two other bucks in the tree line with some does neary by! This was about an hour ago, broad daylight! Time to get out there... bucks have dropped their guard! Should be lots of pictures posted soon after this week!!!:mrgreen:

Yikes... nowhere where I have been... pretty dead actually. Elevation make the difference perhaps? Just got permission to hunt the afore mentioned property tomorrow!! Going in to steathly set some stands tonight!

Well, how did it go today?

All I got was wet. Dawn - Dusk hiking, cuts, timber, old skitters, glassed for hours and hours, didn't stop for lunch. Saw total of six does, and the doe and spike that 000Bucks son got while quading around for 54 miles. They saw 18 deer... hummmm. LOL

I had a great day though... spending day in the outdoors, alone, walking through the trees... wonderful.

I live near Shawnigan, there are no deer here this year, they all went to Sooke, so go there.

Sooke? Sooke? Nope, no deer out there at all. They're up in Broadmead.

Saw some pretty nice bucks in Sooke this year... one blacky and 2 cats in our neighborhood...

There are some pretty impressive 'racks' cruising around the Sooke area. Some actually wander into bow zones......a few of them didn't make it back out. ;) :)
