Tripod Quick Release Baseplate

Have heard of guys using Loctite on the screws when attaching to spotters to keep them from coming loose/getting lost. Which color Loctite is best? Is there anything else I should consider using?

Have had qd bases on two spotters, three cameras, and two video cams
Never had one come loose, let alone lose one.
But if I was concerned I would probably use a drop of silicone.
