Got home from our moose/deer hunt thios afternoon. A great 12 days. Unfortunately, it didn't get as cold as we'd hoped and the moose hunt portion didn't pan out, but a good hunt none the less. We had a very large set of fresh Griz tracks in various locations of our hunt area all week, and quite close to camp. Kept us on our toes and looking over our shoulder. Saw lots of elk including a pair of 6x6's that must have known the season just ended as they were quite happy to hang out less then 60 yards from us. Tons of whitetail deer, mostly does. My partner and I each took a doe the first day as we only had two days of the doe season remaining. We then speant the rest of the week trying to find a bull moose, and whitetail bucks. On the last day I did some rattling with a pair of sheds I'd found. At one point, a doe came running past me, and I figured a buck may be following. A few minutes later she ran back toward the direction she came? Anyway, I rattled again and about two minutes after I heard a distinct buck grunt. He showed up on my right and gave me a nice 25 yard shot. He ran about 75 yards and went down. What an enjoyable week in some beautiful country.

unfortunately not;

we spoke to a few different locals who were having a hell of a hard time with the moose as well.

With the muzzle loader or bow Ron?

Muzzleloader on this trip, and with good results.

I used some new Barnes 290gr bullets and with 100gr of Black powder, they were devastating. Both shots were pass throughs with great bullet channels, and exit wounds.

As far as my bow goes I haven't been shooting it anywhere enough recently and had little to no time to practice before my hunting trip. But I did start shooting it again tonight.

It's still sighted in from hunting season last year and I still have a blacktail tag so maybe after a couple weeks practice:wink:
