Okanagan Mountain 5 by 4...hah-joking-so don't get your panties in a bunch-no PMs please- But he is from that region.

Landed in the Kettle Valley on the 2nd and wore out my boots up and down the burned mountains for 4 days before I decided on something easier-like parking my butt in a clear cut for an evening. (It was a km and a half hike into the spot, so can't say I really parked much)
Sidenote:
Saw a few Deer in my 4 days (lots of Does, one Fork)

sorry about the shake-movie taken through the binos:

Back to the clear cut- So as per usual, this little fella shows up right outta thin air ...wasn't expecting him to be a Whitetail though!
http://i497.photobucket.com/albums/rr331/cainer1/893.jpg

After watching him for about 20 minutes, getting a few pics and looking for other bucks-i finally realized that the wind had shifted and he was maybe starting to get whiffs of me. I wasn't that concerned as I was 250 yards away..but more than once he stared right at me and sniffed into the air. hmmm.
so he starts to walk back towards the tree line and it finally dawns on me that it is getting dark fast-and you can bet it's pitch black in the thick trees.
soo, after a few deep breaths, a quick squeeze of the trigger and a blinding muzzle flash, i watched him take off straight into the trees- Dam! but he looks hit.
I take off covering ground as fast as i can over the deadfall, get to the spot and look for blood-Nothing! WTF..
it's getting dark-so i say screw it-straight into the trees-headlamp, couple hail mary's, and it get's thick fast. so i back track and figure if he's hit, he's going to pick the easiest route-and that's what i did-and luckily enough, that's what he did too!
Dragged him out for the pics- about 40 yards back to the edge of the bush.

Then it was hell drag after that-another couple hundred yards to a point where i could drive my quad in to....that's the problem with no road access in cut blocks -you gotta make your own road!
I'll let you know which is better-BC whitetail, or Sask Whitetail...no question which ones are bigger!

sorry fellas-long day cutting up the monster...he musta went 200 lbs boneless meat:mrgreen: --yeah right.
anyways- remmy 30-06 XCR stainless w/180g. fed prem vital shock ammo. Nothing too special...seems to work for me and I don't like lead! Straight through shot, took both lungs.

Here's a couple more pics- don't mind the tongue...I usually tuck that thing away, don't know what happened with this shot.

Yeah-I've found that reaching for the camera first uses up all the buck fever in my photos-then I'm somewhat calmer for the shot. You should see how many photos I got of nothing:-D
Thanks!

Very nice buck. Sure funny to see how much smaller it is than your Saskatchewan deer. Great with the before and after pictures! Congrats.
