I just returned from a successful Blacktail hunt up the coast in zipper mouth cove.
We barged in on Saturday October 30th. This year we took a truck instead of a quad. That was fantastic. No more come back to camp soaked and freezing. Well freezing anyway. You still get wet out walking:-D
The first full day there was Sunday October 31st. The weather was crappy. Rain and fog all day. I walked an old road up high on the mountain. The fog cleared for a while and I spotted a grey faced deer up the hill. A look with the binos confirmed what I suspected. I lifted the rifle and pulled the trigger. One shot from 120 yards and it was over.:-D He was with 2 does and did he stink!
Deer activity was slow. I turned down 4 spikes and a 2 point. I was hoping for another descent deer!:wink:
