Okay, so being a teacher in the LM my hunting tends to be of the weekend warrior type. I have a nice 4 day weekend coming up and so am trying to decide between two regions. We don't want to spend a lot of time driving to our camp. We're not concerned about rack size but about getting meat in the freezer as I've only a few stews and chops left from last year's muley doe. A very yummy doe BTW.

My wife’s cousins live near Osprey Lake between Princeton and Summerland surrounded by region 8 and we have a place to stay there. We've also hunted outside of Cache Creek before and so know that area. We So here is the question. Which of the following regions are we more likely to have success at:

Region 8-7, 8-8
Whitetailed - bucks (would we see more W/T or muleys here?)

Muley is closed on Nov. 10

Cache Creek and all region 3 (When hunting here before we've only seen muleys)

Muley - 4 point bucks
Whitetailed - bucks

I can only imagine that this post got buried and not that no-one is wanting to offer their 0.02. Not even Jelvis?

Thanks, bearhunter. Would you say these regions are good for whiteys or muleys generally? Usually when driving through Princeton to other areas we've been to we've seen lots of muleys but no whiteys hence my question.

Thanks, RJ. That is sort of what I'm afraid of.

In light of the closed seasons and/or open seasons with none of that species present we're rethinking this and are considering other areas of region 8 or 3. I think Osprey Lake area is now out of the running but we may still look at Cache Creek. My hunting buddy is talking about us looking at 8-12, 8-14. I've also been reading positive things about 3-19,3-20, 3-27, 3-28 and 3-29. Decisions, decisions.
Anyone who'd care to PM me I'd be very appreciative. Considering this will likely be our last trip of the season we're thinking we'd rather drive a little further if we'd have a greater chance of bringing home the backstraps. :)

In light of my past experiences....I would consider 3:30 Loon Lake area for BIG mulies (easy area to walk through)...whiteys?...not so much. Seen a few WT bucks though.

Go where you know
use the outing to add info to what you found before
or use the hunt to explore a new area that you intend on using in the future
If it is not to be constructive, then it is just another sunday drive

Thanks for the input, guys. We're hoping for more than a Sunday drive, a constructive, developing knowledge of an area weekend that also produces some meat for the freezers.

We just came back from loon lake. There are deer, but no 4x4 bucks for us , out of all the cabins around us only 2 LEH does, and 1 spike moose were brought back all weekend.

You must not know that awesome german hunter at whitemoose. a bottle of rye could point you in the right direction. Ask him to look in the shed if you want to see some nice racks. I'm stuck in sask working, but will be up at end of november to tag out. (hopefully)

we have stayed at the white moose twice in the last month. He gave us some good pointers where to go but just no luck. bernd and his wife are really great people. we tried annisvile.. or whatever for the first day, then bonaparte the second day this past weekend.

No, that would have been torture - giving the students another long weekend and making us come in for a pro-d day. No, this is just a straight day off. :-D
I'm not sure if all schools and districts are doing it but mine is and that's good enough for me.

I'm really surprised I haven't heard Jelvis on this thread. He's the encyclopeadia of areas. ;-)
