You'll get em. The blackies are everywhere up there. We counted 13 shooters in a day's driving. Grizzlies are definitely around....have fun, be safe.

my typing skills suck, but here goes.I had an great trip weather was awsome!! Did not fill my grizz tag  saw a sow with a large cub, and she took off too fast to even get a picture of! Oh well next time. Black bears every where! I had met up with a bunch of friends that live in Quesnel much more experinced hunters than myself, they asked "do you want a big bear or a small bear"my reply was "one on the road" after spooking 1/2 doz found one sitting on the road on the way back to camp.I had my 45/70 with me but because of the distance and having just recintly put ghost rings on it and not sighted in properly I opted to use my Rem 700 30/06 with a 180gr Barns triple shock bullet. Was not a bang flop but that sucker never made it 5 steps. I did recover the bullet, and they are incredable. thanks Jason!Anyway the bear was not huge (but big enough for my first home butchering job) nose to tail 6' 8" took me the better part of a day to get everything cut up and cleaned up.All in all it was a great week end. I will post pics if and when I can. Cheers Steve

Over 6 ft.? nothing wrong there. You must have turned down a lot of littler ones, right ? Way to hold out.
What was the area of your draw like to hunt ? Access ? Snow level ? Traffic ?

Sounds like you had a good trip. Good black bear. Don't feel too bad about the grizzly thing though, I have about 4 buddies that live in Bear Lake and they all have not been able to get a grizz yet. They all seemed to disappear after everything turned green. A couple were spotted at the start of May and then it seemed they went into hiding. Where abouts were you hunting PM me if you want.
