I won region 5-1 limited entry for Moose. My question is there a point going there for moose? I now the region only from driving by but not hunting there, is there places to camp and hunt without staying on privet land, any recomendations?

Wise words. Why waste a leh? Go do it, if not you basically just took the opportunity from someone who would at least try.

Thank You I see there is a fighting chance then. I hunted 100 miles House area but never from this side of the highway. This was the Only draw I won out of 5

It is a well sought after unit, don't waste it. There are tons of good areas up there, and someone is sure to throw u a bone or two.

Not only would others have loved to have your LEH, but you could be waiting years and years before you get another. I am sure that there are some on this site that have waited a LONG time to get a moose draw. One friend of mine had a moose draw... fifteen years ago, he has put in every year since then, but hasn't won another one yet.

This year I got a moose draw too, and there was no way I wasn't going. First moose hunt for me so it was ALL new, but I got out there and it was awesome, I even got one!

Don't waist it, get out there and give it a shot, enjoy it! You may even get one!

If you dont want to go, try getting a hold to Tombstone. He might fill your tag for you.....Sorry, cheap shot, had to take it.

Ok... Congratulations on getting a draw that you did not want. I put in for that draw and did not get it. Do a search using 5-01 or 5 01 should find you info.
Or just turn east at 100 mile. When you get away from the residential areas, drive the F.S. roads. Lots of areas on the way to Windy Mountain or Canim lake.

windy mtn road would be my suggestion but there is lots of pressure there. during october. Sheridan Lake area holds SOME moose but they are few and far between. Hunt logged areas early morning and late evening and look for tracks would be your best bet.

Took 2 out of 5-01 on a leh group hunt last year. My tip is do your homework there are moose there, lots miles on your boots looking for sign. If you find the cows you will find the bulls!!!!

Good luck

HI there and congrats on the LEH. I am sure a little scouting the area, either before your hunt or during the start you will find pockets of moose. And that is what to look for, pockets that are holding moose.

I find calling late in the season does not work as good as early (I think to many "moose calls" make the bulls a little call shy by November).

Area 5- 1 is a good area for moose at any time. Not sure where you plan to hunt, but any place around Bridge Lake side of Hwy 24 or around Green Lake. Lots of private lands in the area, so be very careful as farmers around here do not like to have hunters shooting on their land.

I'm going tommorrow for few days. If it happens it happens, If I come back empty handed it is just as good, few days in the forest are always good

At the very least you have tried, and put the LEH to use, rather than not go. Good Luck!!
