My dad had a hunting license back when he was a kid, and was wondering if he has to take the test to renew it. He got it somewhere around '72, and it was last used around '75. Would he need to redo the CORE test?

Not if he has a hunter number. They don't expire.

He won't have to retake the course if he has a valid hunter number.

If he lost his hunter number card, go to your local gov't agency office and have them do a search for a hunter number under his name. For a small fee they can issue a new card.

Even if he doesn't have a hunters number he can get one by showing his old hunting license.

He may be grandfathered, but, you will have to go to a government office to see if he qualifies.

My husband had not hunted for years. However, deep in the recesses of my jewellry box was his old hunter number card. Tattered and dogged earred but still readable. That was all he needed to get a new hunting licence.
he did however, have to challenge the PAL, which he passed.

Ok. That's good to know. He has his PAL since three or four years ago, when he decided to register the old 22 and shotgun. It'll be nice that the old license is still valid. Thanks guys
