Wife (Grinder Princess) took off work an hour early today. I asked her where she wanted to go she said White Swan. So we hit the highway hour later we were pulling into our usual park spot at this point I realize I don't have my hunting license with me so I put my rifle away after a few choice words. Suggest that instead of walking we would road hunt. It's freezing cold and blowing snow so she agrees. Warm truck syndrome. We cruise a few roads see alot of does but no bucks. She decides we should drive the road that she shot her buck off last year and half way in we run into a silver ram coming out so we stop to BS. I tell the guy that last year on almost the same date we ran into a silver Ram coming out this road and 10min later the wife pops a 160 class MD off the road. At this point the wife pipes in with a "when you hear a shot in 10 min. its me getting my deer". The guys laugh, threaten to turn around, and head off.
So ten minutes later wife hollars "buck" .... She bails out of the truck, starts heading up the road - sits down, rifle comes up and yells where did it go?... meanwhile I have glassed the buck and said shooter as it goes over the hill. She heads up the hill hot on his trail while I lock up the truck and follow. I arrive to see her in shooting position, the binos go up to see the shot and the deer is down then up and moving then down he goes. The trees shake for a minute then all is still. 700m from her last years deer I wonder if the guys in the silver ram heard the shot!
For the gear/gunnutz she was shooting a custom .280rem shooting 140gr tsx bullets thanks omineca.

Silver dodges are the key don't know why I bought a white ford.

Damn, I guess I'm going to have to get my black Dodge re-painted! Nice buck, Everett. Congrats to you and your wife! You guys take the camper on that trip? Wouldn't be the first time a deer rode home in there!

By the way the neck looks the Mulies must be close to the rut. Are not Mulies breeding by the 10th of Nov?

No camper just a quick evening hunt. Have yet to toss any dead critters in there yet but only a matter of time.

Muletail Buck....

Everett

I think he is just an old regressed Mule Deer or one with weird antler gentics good to get him out of the gene pool. I figure he was 250+ lb on the hoof so a mature deer.

I think your bang on the age. Old deer..My buddy years ago shot a Mulie in 8-15 that was a huge 2pt. White faced, smelly old bugger :?.

Now thats a great camp fire hunting story! I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same guy driving the Silver Ram pickup from last year!!! Congrats to your wife on a fine looking buck! The one photo of the right side of the antlers kind of makes a guy want to say Hybrid, but I'll let someone else make that call!

Naw differeant people this year was a young guy this oldman or granddad
last year was a older guy with his wife. I shot a hybrid a couple years ago sure didn't look like this guy. He was all mule except for the odd rack.
