Just spent the day shootin gophers, sorry Columbian Ground Squirrels;) Only using .22lr's couldn't stretch out the .204, too many cattle around. I was just wondering what everybody else uses for this type of work? Any Favorite set ups, or stories? I use a marlin model39A .22lr for settled areas around ranch yards etc. A Model 700VLS in .204 W/VXII 6-18x40mm for reaching across hay fields, and my Mini-14 for the chance shot when just farting around. Good Shootin to ya, Rob.

PS: Don't know about the rest of B.C., but the Thompson area is overflowin with the little grass guzzlers.:-D

There ain't none on the rock. Either the ground is solid rock or hard pan, or the water table is so high they'd drown digging holes.

Before I sold my baby I was shooting a Rem 700 VS in 223, with B/L 6-24X40 with mildot reticle and a bipod for the long range work. Ruger 1022 of course and a CZ American in 22 Mag. The minimum requirement is 3 guns when the shooting is good.....I mean Alberta/Sask good. There are good Squirrel pop's around 100 mile/Williams Lake area and through the Tulameen area.

I have always favoured my Hawken 50 for this kind of dangerous game! Fred
