Is this scope any good? Never bought scopes before and was looking for opinions.

If you go Zeiss for your optics I am sure you will be very happy. Excellent optics.

my dad has one on his rifle, and i liked it, so does he. then i purchased a vortex viper, a bit cheaper in price $150 i think, but very comparable glass i feel. but i dont think you could go wrong with that scope.

I am a big fan of Vortex optics, but they aren't close to Zeiss in low/poor light conditions. Most decent optics look pretty good during clear days or good light conditions, it's during poor light that top quality glass shines. If money isn't a concern you will be much happier with Zeiss imo for all conditions.

I dont know where you buy your stuff from but E&I has them on for like 450$ I think. I never checked out NorthernTrout Fitters though.

I have four of them now and am extremely pleased with them and intend to buy several others. They discontinued the model I really wanted, the 2.5x8x32 and I now have two 3x9, one 4x and one 4.5x14 on my .264WM.

I also have one West German Zeiss, a 4x, but, it sits in one of my gunsafes as I do not care for the way it mounts as compared to the Conquest. I have owned scores of scopes, probably 50 Leupolds and maybe as many other makes, lots of various B&Ls and on and on. I find these Conquests to be the best scope for the price I have ever used and far superior to Leupies.

They are a bit big and bulky and so I still use a lot of Leupies and intend to get a couple of Swarovski 3x9s, but, the Conquest 3x9x40 is probably the best buy for the average hunter on today's market.

I bought a 3x9 conquest abd put it on a new 257 weatherby I have. I usually use higher magnification on this caliber but didnt want to get too heavy. Its my first Zeiss and I am impressed. The first thing I noticed is that the turrets do what they are told. I was able to sight in with 3 groups. I mainly use leupold vari-x 3 scopes and none of them do what they are told. They quite often dont move p.o.i and then move too far on the next adjustment. The zeiss is a step up in optical quality as well. I recomend one.
