I am not sure if this should post here but I thought I would give it a try.

I moved from Ontario a number of years ago to BC and I took my hunters safety course in Ontario in the 1990's. The certificate allowed me to obtain my BC hunters number but I have never tried to get a PAL.

My question is, will that hunter safety course in Ontario be enough for the government to give me my PAL.

Thanks in advance.

The Core program gets you your Hunter # and the PAL course it a seperate exam. Unless your course covered the subject and shows you passed the federal firearms course you will have to at the very least challenge the exam

If you did the training in 1990 then I'd say NO. The current set of regulations were implemented in 1998. You've obviously got the know how, find an instructor and challenge the test.

nope.......

I have a number for you , you can challenge the test for $20 I think.
I have the book from when wife did the course , your welcome to it for a quick review if you like, no charge

you'll have to take the PAL. but it's idiotically easy, don't worry about it.

I think Ruger thinks I must be an idiot then.

Thanks for the help guys. I think I am going to read the book and challenge it just to be safe and get it over with.

No I don't, You should pass it easily.

I always wanted to know if you (Ruger#1) and Ruger4 are brothers. I've seen both of you posting and thought you were the same person.

I will try and stop by tomorrow. Both my brothers are out of town which makes me extremely busy.
