We flew out of Fort Nelson on the 21st of September to our hunting destination. Upon arrival we set up camp, collected firewood and all that good stuff. Because of the "6 hour rule" we didn't hunt that day.

The next day we glassed a spike-fork bull moose from camp and decided to go after him. After a couple hour stock we were within 600 yards got busted by a cow elk..She barked a few times and everything within earshot was gone...We decided to spend the rest of the day up where we were, and I'm glad we did...

About 3 hours before dark, "lets go look over this ridge, then we'll head back to camp". We slowly got there a peeked over the edge, ELK...lots of elk...Glassed them for 30 min or so and spotted a legal bull. The final stock to about 350 yards and a couple of quick shots later and he was down...My first bull elk...A few pics and right to work as we were about 7 miles from camp, and 2.5 hours of daylight left..

We arrived at camp about 30 min after dark. That ice cold Old Millwaukee never tasted so good..The next day was a camp day. Just a little tired thats all. Three of us packed out that bull elk in one shot using frame packs. My brother-in-law packed out a hind quarter, and a front quarter in one load...I guess you could say I owe him one..

The day after our camp day we went back up and harvested that spike-fork we had seen before. On the pack back to camp my bro-in-law tripped over a blow down with a loaded pack and went down face first onto his rifle scope and busted his mouth up bad..After we got back to camp we called for the plane as he needed medical attention. The plane could not come in until the next afternoon. 4 days into 10 day hunt we decided we would all fly out. Our agreement has always been "we go in as a group...we come out as a group".

Anyway we flew out, took care of it, and decided to hunt around Pink Mountain for a few days with nothing to show.

Here is a pic of my-our elk that we packed from the back end of hell. Will post up more pics soon..

We ended up getting 2 bull elk...both 6x6..and the little bull moose, so we did pretty good for a 4 day hunt.

I think your brother-in-law must be a human mule. Was he packing out half of the moose when he tripped? Can I borrow him or do you rent him out?

Not to be a smart ass, but it is not stock.

stalk: To track prey or quarry

Thanks for the pics and the story.

Too bad it had to end early, but you packed a lot into 4 days.

Beautiful country too by the looks of things.

Get that Brother-in Law the best medical attention affordable... everyone should be fortunate enough to have a hunting partner like that. Great pictures.
