Was out on a hunt tonight on the Tunkwa Lake road. Not 2 minutes up the road I see a doe running with it's white tail waving straight up. I think, great, this going to be easy! I get closer and the tail has a black tip and ears are huge. So this was a hybrid doe! Could I have shot it, or not? What is the determining factor on an animal like this? Thanks.

better to be safe than sorry im sure you wont have a problem finding another doe

Sure sounds like a mule deer. You did the right thing in letting her walk.
