I am looking at portable 2000 watt generators. Two that come to mind are the Honda and Kipor 2000 watt, both in the same weight etc. class. Any of the members here have experience with them? How well do the Kipors stand up against Honda? I know that Kipors are made in China. Thank you for your input.

I have a Kipor 1000, my brother in law a Kipor 2000, both are about 7 years old, both with lots and lots of hours, mine has not had one issue, his broke the rip cord once. Only issue with both is that after bouncng around in the truck for a while takes 4-5 pulls to get them going, otherwise first or second pull....always

we have one of the honda 2000EU for work...awesome generators....if you are planning on using it for a trailer with air conditioning you may want a 3000 - most AC units take 24-2500W to fire up then reduce to 1800 or so (found that out this summer with our work trailer!!) The 2000EU doesn't have enough juice to fire the AC up!

I have had a Kipor 2000 for 4 years and it has performed very well. Normally starts at first pull. I was told that Kipor used to make some components for Honda and they reversed engineered the whole machine. I would rate mine a 9.5 out of 10.

2800 Yamaha, runs large air conditioner, Microwave, and lights at the same time. Great price, compared to Honda, 65lbs compared to any Honda that will run the same appliances. Decibels compare to Honda, Bulletproof, The name speaks for itself. Do your homework, it ain't Honda your going home with.

A very happy Honda customer!
Have had a Honda 2000 for many years that has been reliable in any inclement weather. Also carry a Cummins Onan 1700 as a backup.
If you need more watts then you can buy 2 Hondas that can connect in parallel from the states.
A friend bought 2 for less than $2000 across the border to run his large air conditioner in his trailer a few months back & he said that he couldn’t be happier.

Anything made in China-BUYERS BEWARE -

I have a 2000w Honeywell inverter model, 2 years and its been flawless. Costco's warranty's also pretty good, but I've never had to use it. I do change the oil at least twice a year though, and I run semi-synthetic diesel oil in mine (compliments of work). Powers my camper flawlessly, get about 12+ hrs run time unless I have it loaded right up.

I paid $500 taxes in for mine, Honda's go for around $1500... I can buy 2 more Honeywell units for what I paid for mine. One thing though about them, if you are planning on running an A/C unit or power tools, spend the money and pick up a 3000 watt generator for sure. LR

my old mans got a 3000W honda, i can move it around by myself, and you can barley hear it when its right out behind the trailer.

I have the honda EU3000 model and it will run everything on my trailer plus charge the batteries.. Its very quiet and runs a long time on quite a small tank of fuel.

I do however find it a bit heavy I think it runs in over 120 pounds so it can be a bit of a bear to load in and out of the storage unit in my trailer.

It will run the AC unit but if I was to do it all again I think I would go with the smaller 2000 watt version for the ease of portability. The 2000 is like a suitcase but I find the 3000 to be kind of cumbersome as it did not come with wheels.

I think a good solution as mentioned above would be to get one of those parallel kits from the states to link two together if you needed that much power.
