I had my video camera in the truck on most hunts this year, just did not pack it into the bush.....Packing too much other stuff already....

rifle, complete with scope, bipod, sling
ammo
calls, calls and some more calls
spotting scope and accessories
knives
rope
toilet paper
headlamp, batteries etc...
water

I prefer to stay light and mobile...that way when I see a suitable elk I can cover ground fast....

I am looking into getting/trying the deer ridge camera mount, that secures the camera to the side of a rifle..May try that out on yotes this winter.....For now I am packing my camera on a tripod and gonna try to get a doe harvest on tape....Stay tuned for that one

Have a bunch more wildlife footage that I will try to load later, just trying to figure out how to edit, so its just the good parts, not the jittery shaky crap...

kinda funny,,looking for does for a video and the little bucks come out to play.
we also passed up shooting several does that we could not get on film, and we spent some time watching a nice group of elk feeding on a hillside with a good bull in the group. Next time we should spend a little more time in the spot actually filming instead of joking around as much as we did. sure tell that the pressure isnt on for putting meat in the freezer.

Well, as my usual style dictates I state something and then it happens right off the bat:oops:...Went out tonight, solo, went to an area that I knew was crawling with WT's.....Driving in, there are a bunch standing on the road...Got video, but no shot...Stupid deer, let me get out of the truck at 60 yards, set the video cam up on the tripod, yada, yada, then just as I was about to cap ones ass they FO....

Drove up the road about 300 metres, walked into the brush line and waited for them...Was not sitting more than about 10 minutes and 8 does/fawns came walking through...

Had the cam set up on the tripod, videod the one doe as she came into my shooting lane...Not the big old grey BEEATCH :twisted:that leads the flock, but one of her daughters I think...3 1/2 year old doe....

Here is the Youtube link to the "post shot documentary"......

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pkhHI6xwHvo

Shot was about 120 yards, good solid rest (AKA Sitting on ass, using knee), using the new to me .338 Win Mag (thanks JeffR) with 250 grain Remingtons...Never shot anything before with it, so thought I would try it out....Hit about 2 inches below the white throat patch, instant SLAM F'ING DUNK on the ground....Exit hole had to be about 5 inches in diameter, after it took out the spine...WOW !!!!

Here is the actual shot on video..CAUTION GRAPHIC IMAGES !!!!!!!!!!

I was gonna thank all my sponsors, Remington, Savage, Bushnell, Joe-Boxer, Meindel, GMC, Shrade, Boston Pizza (that's what I had for lunch), Purex -(Thats what I cleaned up with after lunch), Miller Genuine Draft (that's post-post-lunch) but I figured I would just plug the video with endorsements so I went bare balls -------Just me and my doe...
