View Full Version : My Leh Cali Big Horn is down!!!!!!

Well our trip started on the evening of the October 8 and ended on the morning of October 11. First of all a big thanks for the pms that I have received for the sheep hunt. This was my first sheep hunt and now I'm hooked - I foresee a Stone trip next season.
I went out for a hike in the morning - saw lots of sign but no sheep.
We headed back in the late afternoon -to view the area again and sure enough - my hunting buddy sees the sheep. The hunt is on! we where able to move in completely out of sight and move on top of them. At first we only saw 2 Rams but when we moved in there where 5 Rams. We where fixed on the first 2. One spooks right away. the other guy looks around - we focused on him - he's good. and then he starts to run - man can they ever cover ground on those steep rocky hillsides. I shoot and miss then I aim again and lead on him and boom he balls up and is down. I can't believe I nailed him, I thought that they where going to get away. The pack out was way to easy - we drag him 20 yards down hill to a quad road, put him on the quad and drive to the truck to move him out.

Head back to camp - break camp and transport him home to the freezer. We then head into the interior to knock down a few deer.

I have just got him CI'ed and is set up at the taxi.

Your one brave guy telling everyone here you tagged a sheep then post no pics......you better be looking out your window for the linch mob they will be arriving soon.

I can't believe how supposedly adults act like ADD teenagers sometimes. :-?

With the way this place screw...tinizes sheep..... Id just stick with the story. You never know when a perfectly legal sheep can turn poached.

Congrats on your sheep 2 b fer. Hope the mount looks great!

Beauty,,, Thought when I got my cali this year 300yds down from my quad I had a easy go of it:)

Like where your quad is parked even better.

Great ram once again.

My kind of sheep hunt, 20 yards from the quad! Sweet!

Any dope can hike 20 miles back and smack a ram - it takes extra skill to shoot one that close to a quad trail! Well done! :-D

Just had a couple (literally) of friends return form their LEH Cali hunt...couldn't find a legal ram for the LEH holder (the wife) but the husband did come back with a full curl from an adjacet zone...lucky bugger.
