Just wondering if someone could share some wisdom on how the wind direction changes as it gets colder out.

Does the wind still predominately go up hill in the morning and down hill in the afternoon, later into the hunting season

I would think it would be the same in the late fall as the summer.

Thanks in advance

Cold air runs downhill. Mountain valleys have strong down-valley winds from early evening(winter) on into late morning. If down valley slopes do not warm appreciably during the day, winds may not change, or they may become lighter, or sometimes hit a balance. Only in summer are winds uphill/up-valley on sunny days, reversing at night (katabatic and anabatic winds.) Deer in hilly country often approach their uphill beds while winds are still downhill--making hunting a bit tougher. While they are bedded down they can pick up the slightest scent or noise from the lower slopes. Oddly enough, they seem confused at times if you can get above them and hunt downhill--only for a few seconds of courseLOL
