New Forum member, and a GREAT couple weeks hunting! :)

Hey guys! :D Been lurking on the forum for a few days now, wanted to share my last couple weeks with y'all!

This year, I got an LEH Shared Hunt for a bull moose in Region 4. My Dad, the other member on the shared hunt, decided he wasn't hunting at all this year, so I went out on Thanksgiving day with a couple buddies of mine; one had an elk-tag, the other had a spike/fork bull tag.

Spent most of the day waaaay up in the back-country in some absolutely terrible weather, checking out some excellent area for big moose and never saw a thing. On the way back, we spotted my moose in the middle of the logging road. He wheeled, took off running, I was out of the truck in an instant and at the same point the bull turned and gave me a nice broadside shot as he went to go up the bank.

Best part of it, is all I had on my rifle was my open iron sight as I'd had to remove the scope because my leftmost horizontal crosshair was broken off the main part. Was a 70 yard shot and I nailed him.

So yesterday, a buddy of mine wanted to get his bull elk. We headed out into some back-country here that's known for some nice ones. I forgot my digital camera, and it figures 'cuz as we were driving around, we ran into this guy:

Was playing around with that bull, grunting and doing the open-armed 'moose' impersonation to get him to come out. He got within 20ft and, unfortunately, my cell-phone battery died just as I was gonna get the real GOOD pic. :( Figures, eh? LOL!

Anyway, we saw my buddy's bull elk. HUGE, but couldn't get a good, clear count on his antlers and, just as we did, he'd dropped over the bank and was gone before we knew it.

So my buddy went out this morning, and around noon, I got this pic sent to me:

So far, it's been a GREAT hunting season! Now if only I can get my whitetail! :D

:P Thanks, guys! I plan on going back into that area with those big bull moose and packing my digital camera. I wanna get some nice shots, especially of the BIG bugger I saw!

Definitely wanting to try and put in for that area next year, oh man.

To be completely honest on top of it, I've NEVER had my heart-rate go up quite as much as it did seeing that big bull elk standing there. Got a hint of the fever right there! Hahaha..

That was a nice bull J got!! Oh man, I was so stoked when he got it the next morning lol! People were saying I shoulda been mad that he shot it instead of me, but damnit. We went up into that area lookin' for HIS bull elk, and we found him!
