Hunting skills
Had opportunity to share in a successful elk hunt today in 7B but met two lower mainland groups that had wounded 2 bull elk and they got away. Amazing to us that no one had any basic tracking skills and potentially two bull elk are lost. We tried to assit but the impression was its easier to find another one. We did all we could to assist but we are betting both parties just walked!!!!

it should be illegal to not put in every effort, IMHO atleast 24 hours of daylight should be spent searching!!! I applaud you for trying to help search, i truly hope that if i ever wound an animal and it runs, any other hunters in the area would assist as long as i was going hard trying to find it.

I shot a spike buck last year from a mere 30 yds that (vanished). but At least I can say that I spent 2 hrs in the dark looking for him, then the entire next day, about10 hrs in the pissing rain, running grid patterns out to about 300 yds. and I still punched my tag and called myself beat.

at least I put in every reasonable effort.

That kind of attitude is what gives the anti's ammo. If you're man enough to shoot at something, you ought to be man enough to deal with the fall out when it doesn't go right.

It's called a conscience. Clearly those a$$h@les don't have one.

I probably would have passed that one on to the CO's along with plate numbers and physical descriptions. Even if there's nothing they can action on the file, at least there's a record of what kind of guys they are. It could help the CO's out later if they catch the boys up to other shenanigans.
