No, you are right. You need to be 18 however you can take the course and just submit the paperwork when you turn 18 and then you will recieve your PAL. Had to do the same with my boys.

You can always take the guns out if accompanied by an older person, one old enough to have their PAL.

But you can get a minors liscence that will allow you to posess them sans supervision but not own buy or guy ammo... Hope that helps... ( ps I know b/c im the same age and I have one)

IceClash, I could be wrong but I don't think a provincal licence can over rule the PAL/POL which is federal. The Junior licence is so a minor ( 10 year old to 14) can hunt with a licenced hunter and use that hunters tags. Once you are 14 you have to take the core and get your own hunter number and licences. The PAL is to possess a firearm (buy or borrow) and you need to be 18. They are unrelated to each other, bowhunters don't need a PAL and target shooters don't need the Core.

I believe IceClash is talking about a minor's POL firearm license. You can use a non-restricted firearm unsupervised and buy ammo. http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/cfp-pcaf/fs-fd/minor-mineur-eng.htm

I stand corrected. Guess I'll have to see about getting one for my kid so he can be further away than arms reach. Which should help out as hunting with a 15 year old besside you is not too stealthy.
