I was up there on the weekend. I saw a lot of fresh moose scat over towards Mt. Anne, but you have to be careful of the park boundry. There was also some not as fresh, couple of days maybe, at the very top of 4100. Don't know if it was cow or bull, but this time of the year, if you find one the other probably ain't to far away. They are there. Try calling. Also, I hunted up until tuesday, and had the mountain to myself. Talked to a nice couple who have been going there for over 35 year and said after thanksgiving there is hardly anyone there during the week. If you can swing it I would go then, it gets pretty busy on weekends. Two thing though:
1- if you see something make sure it ain't a cow. (I have hunted and fished there for the last 15 years and don't remember seeing this much cattle before - well into the hundreds!)
2- Where are the grouse? I only saw two the whole time I was there and they were flying to roost. The couple I talked to had been there for a week and had only seen one.

I got 2 grouse up there last Sunday and I was only up there for a day. Didn't see any deer but a fair bit of sign.
Talk to the guys at Tunkwa lake resort, they'll point you in the right direction.

Your allowed to hunt in the park. A guy passed a 50 m shot at a 5 X 5 whitey thinking the same! We have snow this morning for the first time in weeks, a couple cm at the lake!!
WOOHOO!! Opening day for moose and snow:mrgreen:

Now for the 30 minute commute to the "spot", hope he's on schedule:cool:

Good luck members

Depends where you want to hunt, re-grouse, we had a wet June along with anything south of 100 mile, bad for them at that time, there are reports of them now, one fellow ran into 30!

Headed out and thought the roads were a bit slippery this a.m., parked and walk to wait, left and returned to a dead flat tire, 2nd time in 2 years:cry: , left while it was flat in the dark unknowingly as I just putted out.

Look for the hole to plug it and my air compressor is missing, SABOTAGE
SOB, ran into someone a few days ago in the same area:mad: %#$@$#er. Hope he makes a good broth for his tag soup! Mind you may have got the hole last night looking for whitey's, but one could stick their thumb in it.

Oh well, the snow was welcome. :)

4200 Rd. @ 23k is an old gravel pit and right at access to 426 Rd. is an old helicopter landing, believe it is at 25k. Both good and popular camp spots!

I'm staring at my backroads mapbook and don't see the 4200 road anywhere. Is it the intersection just past the resort turnoff?

IS the bull moose draw in in 3-18 or 3-19? the 4100 is mostly in 3-19 the 4200 rd is in 3-18.

Some lucky fellow took a young bull 3 km from here right off the pavement yesterday morning, mom must of just kicked him out. One sure has to be in the right place at the right time!! Even in a white tail area.

That must be the one I saw crossing tunkwa lake rd with his mama around November last year. Them moose even have to wait for us to slow down to crawl before they crossed the road. I thought you cannot shoot right off the paved road!

The intersection is called Four Corners and if you turn left you are on the 4100 in 3-18. Follow that road for 8k and take the fork to the left just after 15k and you'll run into the 4200 Rd.
