Hmmmmm, now WHO was it that bombed and burned various government and private buildings when I was young and still living in the Kootenays? Seems some came from that ...pacifist community......around Grand Forks.....

He isn't talking about resident hunters......he is yammering about the government funded culls that are going on.

Ah, I get the distinction. 'twould be very nice though if I were paid to help out. I think the "pacifist" comment refers to the large Doukhobor community in and around Grand Forks.

Lets face it: If we stopped killing deer while hunting, our Government agencies would be forced to hire "deer exterminator$$", as it is being done in the Eastern United States, due to the declining numbers of hunters and increasing numbers of deer that eat everything in sight, something like 25 millions of white-tails roaming around, that needs to eat very day. First people planted stuff the deer did not like, but the deer now eat this stuff as well..

"Deer Exterminators", typically baits and shoots over 300 deer at a night shift, using silenced guns with night vision scopes. These deer are then destroyed.

We hunters are the unsung heroes of keeping the deer population at bay, and when the food producer, aka farmers and ranchers cry for help against those hungry critters that eats their/our crops, we hunters, with our governments blessing, gets permissions to hunt doe's on their property.

Hunters therefore saves our society for billions of dollars in deer/elk damages crop, as well as reducing collisions between deer and cars, and thus save human lives as well, as well as keeping everybody's car insurance preminums down, by reducing collisions between cars and deer down.

Call us hired guns if you want, but we hunters are worth billions of dollars to our economies, which would be forced to increase taxes considerably, if we hunters did spend time and money on our, ancient and natural instincts to hunt.

There are 2 distinct groups, only the minority group had some individuals who engaged in the activities you mention. After reading all your articles where you quote numerous sources that you have read, I would expect a more learned comment from one who is so well read.

Just think of the power of a high powered rifle and the accuracy with telescopes and we have them in our houses, I mean think of the power, being able to have a rifle and be trusted to use them responsibly.

What a flaming MORON, Like a bear is going to take a back seat to some deer when there's food involved.


The deer, with proven talent for picking up orchard debris, have, above all else, kept the most famous of all garbage specialists, the bears, lurking in the hills. Just waiting for the day we get rid of the deer, so they can shortcut their accumulation of winter fat.

But then again, the bears in GF must also be pacifist???

There are THREE distinct groups and some of the actual perpetrators of various incidents came from more than one group, during the 90+ years of this terrorist activity. I knew some of these people very well and the former private secretary to the late leader of the radical group, Stefan Sorokin, was both a frequent customer in my bookstore and a friend of mine.

I could go into very specific detail concerning this issue as my late Pop was born in GF in July 1904, when my grandfather was on temporary assignment there starting a brewery and I am a bit familiar with WK history. I have also vigorously defended the Doukhobours here on HBC from ignorant comments a number of times.

If, you read my post a little more carefully, you would have realized that it was intended as an ironical comment upon the reference to ...pacificist... in the original article; however, it is factually correct.

...learned comment...??? It was a factual comment with a little ironic humour.
