Does anybody have an idea what pooo this belongs to?

It was on a very grassy section of deactivated road and there were about 15 piles of it scattered all over, from the middle of the road to off on the side where the vegetation was thick.

Horse is what I thought when I first saw it. I guess what threw me off is that it was at least 50 kms from the nearest paved road and the logging road leading up here would definitely be the last place one would be carting horses up in a trailer.

I know of several places in the province where i have seen wild or escaped horses running lose for months at a time. Any guesses as to what the area had in had in common? The only hint is they are close to locations that are goverment funded, tax exempt, and sometimes marked on a map with the letters I.R. I was pretty surprised to see horses running wild for the first time. I honestly didnt really even believe that someone wasnt looking for them or that they were not missing untill I asked some locals. One group was very skitish, I had a really quick look at them at first light. They were not shod. The other group was not as weary and didn't look very wild. It looked like a stalliion and a couple mares with some pretty young ones. They were miles away from the closest ranch and the owner didnt think they bellonged to anyone they knew. I dont think its hard to picture a horse ending up in a lot of places, rider or not.
