I just posted last week about hunting around Harrison and as expected it got horrible reviews.
I am now wondering about areas on the coq.
I am hoping for an area closer to Hope but any suggestions would be awesome. Obviously i am not needing your secret spot but an area to start looking would be lots of help.
Thanks again for all the help, this really is an awesome website with many people willing to help out.

There's far too many areas to list them all. Get a good map book pick a spot then go learn it. You won't learn it in one trip either!!!

I used to have a favorite decent spot up there however things are always changing. Logging changes the face of what was once familiar. That being said there is still many good areas up there and one just needs to spend some time exploring it. Good luck.

As "Steelco" said, get a good map, there are a lot of roads within your 2 hour range. My young brother and I have taken many deer from both sides of the fraser canyon from around spuzzum east and west, and further up the canyon.

just take any of the exits, i took sunset main during the youth season, and we pulled a couple of nice 4 point bucks out of there. not sure what its like up there now though, usually the deer start to move down from around that area pretty soon following a feed they like.
i know a guy who has the whole area firgured out, he knows what there feeding on, and where they follow it down, gets some real nice bucks every year. just as steelco said, learn it and you will get very successfull

Worrying about it is better served in HITTING IT!

Get out there!! There's TONS of wild 'up there'.
My suggestion; make it at least a weekend.

There aren't any good places off the Coq to hunt I suggest you look somewhere else...

Also if you wear camo at least get out of your vehicle for longer than the time it takes to take a dump and if you have to take a dump at least step off the middle of the freaking rd...

There is good hunting on the coq, especially behind locked gates..

As others have said - you need to invest time and gas exploring the area. We (my son and I) have seen amazing amounts of game on both sides, just off Hwy 1 and Hwy 5 - but the most by far, in-between.

The best advice I can give is get the hell away - as far as you can from everyone else.

You can camp at the lakes or other campsites, and listen to your fellow campers making a raucous all night - then fire up the hunting vehicle just before dawn and become Mr. unpopular, or you can move up into the bush and enjoy the bliss.

Apart from good numbers of deer, you will also get to see some incredible scenery....

Best of luck mate - enjoy the coq - it has plenty to offer and let us know how you get on....
