I just returned from 8 days in 5-5. Spent way too much time on shitty roads, so if I can help you avoid doing the same..
Due to the fires, there's a number of deactivated roads and a number of new 'roads' if you can call them that. Avoid the 'Broken Sleigh' road, avoid the road from Chilko Lake along the Chilko River to the Bella Coola Highway, and don't bother looking for Cochin Main from the Cochin Lake side. We couldn't find it, despite a few hours of looking. Better to try accessing it from the East side. PM me if you want more details.
The moose were high up due to the warm temps when we were there last week.
Make sure to stop by the Graham Inn in Tatla Lake for one of Bobbi Bracewell's burgers! wow, they're great.
