So once again the ladies get it done. On Tuesday my daughter and I had set up on this spot after seeing some fresh sign. We called for about an hour and a half but no response. On Wednesday we rearranged the group to try and get that winning combo. My son and I went to one area and my wife and my daughter decided to go back to where she and I had been the day before. They set up and my wife tried her best moose call. She's shy and practices when she's alone while driving the car. After half an hour she tries another one and five minutes later this one comes out. Two shots with the 270 and he's done. They come and find me and my son and as they say the work begins. We figured this would be an easy pull but no such luck. Our mistake is that we're relatively close to home and we don't always carry what we should. This was one of the worst ones I've ever been involved in. Spongy ground everywhere, I don't think a quad could have done the trick. After several hours of work with immense help from the kids we got him out. Shot at 11 on Wednesday morning and finally hung at home at 6 am on Thursday. The rack isn't huge but when we quartered him we thought he had some real size. Got him to the butcher's yesterday and the quarters weighed in at 706lbs. Not bad for a non Northern moose. I have another tag to fill but the pressure's off so have the rest of the month to find another if I can. Thanks to the little lady and the kids. I really have lots to be thankful for. Very nice bull..its hard to find chicks that like to hunt..lucky and proud man you must be.

Congratulations for putting that beast down. Sounds like a long day hauling it out. That is a good size moose with an even better rack. Where abouts was this? You said non northern.

My daughter said she wanted to video the whole thing but was afraid the sound of the camera would put him off. Got some good photos after he dropped though.
