this was the largest scoring bull guided.
next one is the largest of the season ( maybe all of mine) and I have loads of video of him...his heads on my porch at the moment

next is a great bull
http://i443.photobucket.com/albums/qq155/proguide66/sms210012.jpg
I also have around 600 trail cam photos..here's a 'few' of my favs..more to come..many many kills of all species on vid this fall to..will take a 'while' to put em up..should be good!
http://i443.photobucket.com/albums/qq155/proguide66/029-2.jpg
http://i443.photobucket.com/albums/qq155/proguide66/063-2.jpg
I have many many more...
note , I also have MANY multiple wolf pics , day and night...in most of them , they are all smelling branches I broke with my bare hands days earlier. I broke the branches so they would not trigger the cam in the wind...might be a point of interest to wolf trappers..enjoy..vid later and more pics

Who knows what the 'C.I' will come up with for age!!!...they ALL seem to have different calls on sheep these days....I'm callin him 12....
I drew my 4th grizz tag in 5 tries!..had a few days between hunts and a new guide in camp so went out to scout and snoop , this grizz was 60yrds in front of me on the trail beside a river...never heard us..I jumped off and smoked him..happened too fast , only saw him from behind for 3 seconds in willow as he was walking away...I ran across the river behind him after jumping of my pony , had a staring match over the willow at each other for a bit , drilled him in the neck...8'2 across the front end , 7ft 6 ass to nose...22" on him...cool experience , not the 9 ftr I SHOULD of held on for..but shit , whats another foot of fur gonna do for me,haha..
Damned meat...4 quarters hangin in my horse trailer...rainning outside..no cooler in town...might have to go to the damned city..just what I need after 22 hrs road trip with horse trailer..aaarrrgh....will post up grizz vids later ,trying to post as the season went!

Here;s a shot of trying to decide if the largest one is worth goin after er not....hunter wanted a dark sheep and it was all black.

hey Ken. The BIG bull is comin up!!..it kinda went on for a week with him.My sheep hunter had a mose tag ( and my last hunt of the yr) and passed on him at 100 yrds:roll: in hopes of concentrating on his ram...couldnt talk him into it..it was a real tough sheep hunt physically and his first REAL sheep hunt so I think we kinda beat him up a bit...er maybe a lot??...musta anyway to have a guy pass on a moose like the one comin up!!

About the elk , just goes to show how the most shitty sounding bugle is usually from a real bull..soo many guys critisize other guys calling of elk but i'm convinced 'anything' works with them at the right time!!

someone also asked what type of cam corder..its a new small sony HD , real small , bought it at Squam shoppers drugmart for I think $650....going to attach it to my bow stabilizer and my 243 to make this falls ' book blacktail hunt'...should be good...going to 'try' for one with my bow and one with my gun...have 3 book bucks on the hit list ,one is solid well over 150"...fingys crossed.

Well , consistently with the past yrs sheep hunting was tough..REAL tough...I saw maybe 25% of what I normally see in a season. and maybe 50% more hunters.
The rams I showed few vids ago were spotted while retrieving the last moose...my next hunter was to show when the weather cleared and I was REAL antsi due to only having ONE ram to go after...and was praying it hadnt left all together.
Hunter arrived via plane and the next morning our wrangler, hunter and I were packed real minimal and gone for a spike camp and targeted assasination..hopefully...
Sure enough , the rams were nowhere to be seen on the previous hill..so we climbed it anyway after making a rough camp ON a willow patch.
Soon my scope was on the rams and they had made their way maybe a mile away. They were also in an un aproachable spot..wind at our backs , they were in the mouth of a basin wich was surrounded by too high of cliffs and there was maybe 20 sheep of mixed sex's and ages sprinkled up to a 600 yard radious around them between us and the rams....mission 'impossible'.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5yCHd7T-aHw

I spent a few hrs surveying the area and trying out how to go about 'surgical hunting' of these sheep..was just real shitty..scoped grass patches at various places to see wich way the wind was going....due to it changing with each direction I focused my damned eyes..
We decided to climb another mountain the next day for another look and maybe a shift in ram position....en route back , we came across this 'THING'....

PG....really enjoying the vid's and pics!! Thanks for sharing thus far!

Question for you PG66 and anyone who films/clicks through a spotting scope...do you quite literally just hold the camera lens up to the eye piece or do you have some sort of an adapter? I have seen some pretty wicked footage and pics through spotting scopes and the clarity in your clips of the "THING" is awesome!!

proguide66
10-16-2010, 04:33 PM
I usually get er try to get comfortable as possbile , no wind and hold it on my spotter..you have to back the zoom right back on the spotter for best results....I also have a swarov adaptor for $500 that doesnt fit any cam or camera...there is also a plastic 'thing ' by swarov that holds a camera solid in front of the eye piece , also for over $350 and as well didnt fit any of my shit....I'll post a clip I did of a grizz...took two tripods , one cam , other scope and lined em up...isnt easy but worked great...only answer is to dump the 7 grand on a pro camera...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pae4cYpk3P4

while belly crawling for maybe 300 yards , an 8 yr old ram appeared outta npowhere and baited 2 small rams to come out to him from the basin mouth....had some REAL hard decision making to do...we werent hunting for the 'tape measure' , getting the 12 yr old bugger was less than possible and this ram was willing to take one at 240 yrds...:?

I was thinking the same thing. I thought I was out of shape....sheesh!

So let me get this straight......This guy pays you good money to haul his a$$ up a mountain, lugs all his shiny new gear with him, comes close to having a heart attack, you find the animal he wants, he spends half an hour trying to calm his breathing long enough to take a shot.......and you humiliate him publicly by posting the whole thing on the internet.........AWESOME!

Well , I gave him an hr to catch his breath BEFORE I retrieved him after aging....THEN publicly humiliated him......actually , no humiliating anyone...getting the full flavor of guideing across to the curios for sure.

anyway..on with the next adventure..

We managed to close the distance to the rams to 600 yrds..kinda better than the 1200 but still not close enough as well combo'd with a 50 mph cross wind...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vvRW8fmp6U4

We laid there for most the day and up till the sun left us and left us with a growing layer of ice on us....the rams finlly rose and fed only deeper into the un aproachable hole...away from us...
En route back I took one last mercy glance to the other side of the valley and realised a 'one n a million' had happened..ALL the sheep left and went into the deep end of the basin leaving the entance un guarded...we were already whipped...but we truged back and went for a cliff climb to get us 300 yrds from the feeding band of sheep and nicely above them...could account for all of em BUT the large one...of course...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KcUV5rYJESE

unkkown to us the large ram was a mere 150 yrds to our right..but out of site...we sat on an open slope frozen while all the sheep fed into view...it was getting drker and drker , we were fully exposed and this was IT...we would not be able to leave un busted so if he didnt show we would HAVE to be seen and blow em outta there forever....well...we got busted...one er two musta seen my blink...a little stampede was on...out comes the big ram and is running away from us out to 300 before he stopped to see what the trouble was....boom...miss..( no cam on)...little more stampede...stopped...boom wack..yeah baby

Absolutely amazing stories, video's and pics! You capture what other's can only read and dream about. It's easy to look at a picture in a magazine of a downed animal, but to be able to see the amount of work that goes into getting that animal is pretty incredible. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gpw4ORCT81o

well John my sheep hunter/outfitter from Colorado decided to hit home. He had slipped in a creek during the stalk of the sheep creating a painfull injury.
The other hunters in camp were a son who I knew from victoria...due to the physical shape of the old guy they were not going to be doing any HUGE rides for moose and tagged out on two the same day near our main camp.
It was 'do or die' for me and my first chance at a true monster moose...i'll tell ya it isnt easy to motivate at the end of the season..especially combined with the distance to the damned thing and having to pack and ride to the highway the very next day.....but...I went for it.
Our wrangle George and I saddled two horses and took two pack horses in case we found THE big guy...en route , we came across this bruiser wich was MUCH closer to camp....BUT ....NOT 'Ol Dagger'...didnt make sense to just 'kill one' ..had to be DAGGER er nuthin.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T0PWwrFf_YI

I passed on the big bull and we carried on only to bump into 3 more wolves and made the pack short one.

Up and ov er our last mountain pass we dropped into a frikkin moose orgy...15 or more moose spread out over a 500yrd long by 600 yard wide basin...the same one we filmed dagger in earlier...3 moose were probably book and one would easily score higher than Dagger...but , as most know , I am a fan of the old old guys...Dagger was it!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mGZUZoG0Rg0

proguide66
10-17-2010, 09:09 AM
Of course at first Dagger was nowhere to be seen..unlike every other frikkin moose in the valley ...the high scoring moose was in an easy kill spot and I was going to go assasinate him when George said " THERES DAGGER THERES DAGGER", he was up in the middle of a spruce rige with a cow....and as well absolutely unapproachable due to ALL the moose being between us and him AND the wind at out backs...wich wasnt doing much due to most these animals probably never seeing humans before( w enormally dont go this far for moose).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JJHteGMGn_c

After previously drilling a few wolves at 538 yrds , I was feeling cocky and confident combined with the day BURNING away and the rest of the herd making it IMPOSSIBLE to get nearer I decided to take the only chance I may have.....and missed...

10-17-2010, 09:18 AM
Well...wasnt sure on miss er hit so we just stayed put a bit....maybe 30 minutes later , the majority of the herd moved up into the pacth and we immediatly heard horns clashing...it was Dagger and the other book bull goin at it....we moved down our ridge yet some more in hopes of gaining a bit of yardage....then all the sudden 7 er 8 moose came into a small opening.
George exclaimed" ITS DAGGER"...i reply , " range it range it"...he says "480....no...500....well...480/500..."...either way now i |KNOW Daggers 'gettin it'.
Held the hairs between his ears head on...BOOM...WACK...bullet hit absolutely square in the middle of his chest right where the throat turns to chest. Dagger went running downhill for maybe 50 yrds and piled up.

We then RUSHED into action...I felt we had no time to spare with the sun creepin down and had 3 1/2 hrs just in riding let alone cutting!!..George stayed on our ridge and guided me to the dead moose across the valley......took us ONE hr to quater and knock the head off , then we packed him and took off.....we made camp RIGHT at drk...yiippeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Our area has 99% drk chocolate to black boars. I felt this was a sow due to it being real low to the ground , large head for such a porky body and too light ( guy with me had a tag to)......i'm no expert but the tummy is usually right...most the boars seem to be tall..even when a teenager..then fill out. My bear was 8ft 3 across the arms..7 ft 6 long...kinda like a lanky teenager.
this bear was also up high in a slide and seemed too fat too early comapred to the other 17 bears I saw this fall...prego sow maybe??...anyway..I called it sow..........

Male or female that’s a mature adult bear so the thing that makes me think it’s a sow is the muzzle! Seems short! A mature boar tends to have a big long ugly snout, it’s so hard to tell, an awesome bear either way I would never criticize a kill on that one!

That bear is so fat! I guess it could be one of those pregnant sows with delayed pregnancy!?

I'm goin porky sow to...here s a solid black GRIZZLY boar maybe pushing 8 ft...I only used the cam zoom due to him movin and not bein into the scope/cam wrestle....note he's tall in the legs..tapering to the head more than the lo riding sow with her fat head..he's also VERRY nervous , he was digging in a spot that WAS a kill site Aug 17,,,then the old 6th sense kicked in and he got outta there...large boars are very very cautious and mostly nocturnal...that sow was wide open broad daylight around 230pm and not a care in the world..even after undoubtly smelling us 30 minutes prior.

That is a very large black bear.
You know when they get that elongated neck like a polar bear, its a giant.
Love to know how old that guy really is, probably be surprised.
Love to dump a pack of hounds on his ass too :)

Amazing videos. Thanks so much for sharing them. I can't wait until you start your own television program. This is much more interesting than most of the crap that's currently on Wild TV.

Unfortunately this type of hunting video is not really suitable for TV. Nowadays the shows produced take the harvest of 1 or 2 animals and turn it into a 1/2 hour disney production full of replays and BS re-inactments. Also while guiding it's very hard to be a cameraman because you have so many other responsibilities that can be more important than capturing the scene.
Congratulations to proguide for what he was able to capture. Well done for being in the position of a guide.

Here's a clip og my bull the first time we saw him. It always amazes me the power in these beasts...check out how fast he can just fling that rack around effortlessly...imagine that thing pinning you:shock:.

As far as 'TV' goes , naahhhh.....Ive actually never had wild TV er seen it , but the shows I have seen , the drama , endorsing products , trying to be a 'rock star' ( like a few TV guys I have worked with:?)...I'm passing!!!
Lovin hunting and swappin stories is just right!!!;-)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ttn-DGhU4FM
