Out Of The Bush For 3 Days..

I have been having a ball chasing elk all over the hills ,saw one 5x6 two days ago but was not the one I wanted ,I will post up the footage latter.
I am into 3 big herds of elk right now but am pooped from chasing them up and down the mountains.

My Spike camp is my truck and Its hard sleeping in the truck for 5 days and not having luxuries like my main camp..

Have to recuperate for a few days been going hard sense Aug 25.:mrgreen:

I downed a 2x2 mule deer the other day and gave the deer to my hunting partner so he would have some meat to take home ,he left today to go back to the coast..

I will post up the picture of the mule deer and the 5x6 bull I filmed tomorrow morning at 4am..

The main elk rut peak is gone and winding down now so better get out there quick or it's gone again til next year ..

Round rock works well, or a golf ball (cause all of us hunters pack a freaking golf ball with us:confused:)

I am wondering though, as I have never tried this myself, does the time since the deer died make it more suitable (fresh kill, warm carcass versus couple hours old with rigor starting???)

I guess I can sell all my knives, and bring the quad out of storage :mrgreen:

If I don't get the one I am looking for well at least I have had a great season playing with the elk up in the hills..

Had a great time hunting with you this year, we saw lots of wildlife and were fortunate to drop a couple of meat bucks, your a pleasure to hunt with and an even better friend. There is always next year for me but you still have a good chance to bag that bull that caused us so much pain. I still can't believe that cow call we heard in the fog was an actual cow in heat.
