Take it to a gunsmith...I am assuming you want to register it.. you will need the the gunsmiths number in order to register after he verfies it..

I had a 16 guage shotgun verified earlier this year. I did the entire process over the phone through the Canadian Firearms center. Didn't need to bring it in to any gun smith.

After this was done, I did an electronic registration of the gun. The whole process was very simple and I recieved my registration card in short order.

Agree with Ron!! Call the CFC and do it with them.

Ron is right...you call the CFC and do it over the phone. You will need the serial number, barrel length, calibre, and I believe action type and they can verify it over the phone. If any of these don't match what they have in their database (never happened to me) then you have to take it to an approved verifier in your area, and every gunsmith is NOT one. Not sure if there is a listing on the CFC website (I think there is) or if they point you the way when talking to them, but either way it's no hassle.

Despite the fact many don't agree with the registry, the people who work there, are the best, most helpful, government employees I have EVER dealt with. Give em a call.

I called 18007314000 and the lady was useless and said they can't register over the phone! Is there another number?

You can very easily do it over the phone. I registered two guns last week that had never been registered before. Make sure you know the make, caliber, serial number, number of bullets the gun takes, and barrel length before you call.

That's another thing there's no serial number!

The serial number isn't an issue. There are tens of thousands of guns that were never serialized. Call again, maybe this time you'll get someone that knows what they're doing??

I phoned that # 2 weeks ago and registered 2 rifles one with and one without a serial #, who ever you talked to was just not trying to help.
