I love my 20 gauge S/S. I prefer it for upland game birds and have one a few turkeys shooting against 12's.

My christmas gift to myself was a CIL 20ga SxS which is the canadian version of the Savage 311, double triggers and lifters.. Only had a few boxes through it and will be restoring the stock and adding a pad. Some bismuth will be in the future for ducks over my decoys out of the sneakbox I built, does it get any better?

Oh, ya I shoot a 20 to answer your question...

Very best,

Ian

P.S 36 days and counting..

I sold my 20g a while ago and I think I am starting to regret it. I sold it and my .410 and picked up a Winchester Defender in 12g that meets my needs a little better but I miss the 20g I should have sold it to my Brother in law or something!

The reason this came up is because I am cleaning house and safe and found that I have almost 3 boxes (73 shells) of Winchester universal 20 gauge, 2 3/4" ,7/8oz
8 shot left over from when I sold my 20 guage.

I'm in north burnaby near willingdon and hastings, you can have them for $10 if you want?

let me know

I used to have a 20 but lost it in my split. (Anyone interested in ~700 rem gun club rounds? Trade for 12s?) It was lighter then then my 12, so the recoil felt the same, soI didn't use it much after I got the 12.
Maybe I'll get another one someday, but not in the near future.

so for hunting ducks/goose is a 20 guage sufficient or will I be able to use my Defender for this purpose? I am hoping to try some this year. The defender was bought primarily as a camp gun for up north, and for some fun at the range. I m not sure if it is okay for hunting with.

Defenders don't usually have a choke. That makes it rather difficult for you to hit birds on the wing at any distance. I do it sometimes with Grouse but the shots have to be really close, like when they are attacking! Fred

A shotgun is about a combination of events..

Pellet size, payload size and velocity.

A 1oz charge of #4's going at 1300 FPS is the same no matter which gauge you shoot it from. The difference comes in increasing ones odds by be able to shoot heavier payloads in the bigger gauges. But, if you're on you're on, and if you're off you're off no matter what's at your shoulder!

Very best,

Ian

If you still have the shells, I'll take em off of your hands.

3 boxes for 10 bucks IS a deal. PM me if they're still around. I own two 20's and go through a fair amount of ammo when I'm in the Skeet mode.

I have a 20 guage...unfortunately nobody in my family is a big bird hunter so I haven't used it much...thinking of using it for trap or such like....waiting on my PAL papers first off.

Yes. Boito sxs. Excellent gun. easyer to handle than the 12 and more punch than the .410. Great gun for the wife/kids to shoot. I too would take the ammo if it's still available.

I'm sure most of you guys already know this but Wal-mart sells 12 and 20 gauge shells in boxes of 100 for $20. I think they stock 12 gauge in #7.5, #8, and #5. 20 gauge I know they stock in #7.5 and I think #8. They get a special purchasing agreement from Winchester and Federal because of the volume they purchase across North America.

I use my 20 ga sxs for sporting clays. light to handle but the double trigger screws me up once in a while. I plan to use it for pheasant and grouse this fall.
