Managed a shorter trip to the ek's for elk. Long story short...
On day two, my dad managed to down a 6x6 close to camp, which was reallly nice for packing on the bikes.

He shot the elk at 6 pm and we had it cooling in camp by 9 am the next morning (after leaving it for the night opened up)

The pack and bike out

Weather got brutally hot and all the game didn't want to play> Bugling stopped and the biking/hiking became a chore. The goat tag wasn't filled, due to coyotes and g-bears. Wasn't able to get many pictures of the Grizzly bears and the false charge, but here are some pictures that you may enjoy...

All and all it was a great trip and I am extremely happy for my dad, who is in his 50's and still jumps on the bike and rides up the valley in search of critters. Hope you all enjoyed the pics.

Ruddy...good job but what is with scaring the bear back towards my son. Nice Elk, hope to try a steak from it this winter. I'll bring you a moose steak from Alberta when I get back from a short hunt with Chris

Congrats....Got to love it when people get inventive to get stuff out of places where others fear to go....Lot easier on the back than packboards too...

Your dads in his 50's?? You make it sound like he is OLD...He is just getting to the good age :)

Nice bull and I like the bike setup. I helped a friend on a griz hunt hunt where we had to bike in. I didnt have a bike and had to borrow my girlfriends. Its hard to look cool on a girls bike. I had fun watching my huntin partner bike out with a heavy griz hide on his back.

My dad built the trailer. It works great. We were tired of super sore asses after making a couple trips to pack game out. We have packed out a few critters with that thing. We are usually able to get 3/4 of an elk in the trailer and the remaining meat goes on the packboards. We have researched a bunch of different styles, but we just couldn't find one we liked, so this one is a "one-of-a-kind". Thanks for reading the post!

Congrats! Looks like a great time. Love the trailer...looks skookum.
Did your Pa get in contact with his scope?

Yes, he was just doing a standard durability test on the leupold vx-iii. No in-the-field butterflys but a good scar to go along with the story. I may have laughed at him a little bit:).

Nice bull, congrats to all of you.

I'm just trying to figure out why you laughed at your dad. Is it because he laughed at you when you did the same thing :-D

Nice Elk, and very nice bike set up. My Pops has always been talking about rigging up something similar - any troubles stopping while on a down-slope?
