Hello all!
Well Just arrived back from beautiful Newcastle, Wyoming with two great antelope.
Well we left Cranbrook on the 29th at 6:30 pm and headed for the states. After about 5 hours of driving we camped out just south of missoula at a rest stop and waited for the AM. After a 5 hour restless sleep we were off to the western state of wyoming. When i woke up that morning i felt like i had a bad cold on the way but figured a day of driving would maybe help it. After 10 more hours of driving we made it to Newcastle. With a quick stop at the pharmacy/liquor store/casino/supermarket lol we were off to find some a goats. Within about 15 minuted we had spotterd our first good goat. We were jacked. So darkness fell and we were off to sleep, well not sleep more like lay. When i woke up my cold had intensified and now almost a flu but i figured to hell with it, i came this far im huntn. So as the sun came up we seen nothing but trucks and bright orange all over the place, and at that point we decided that we needed to walk ourselves into some more secluded areas. Within about 15 mins of glassing we had found a great speed goat. He was about 14-15 " tall and horns pointing straight forward. Only one problem; he was on the wrong side of the fence. So we waited and hoped for that buck to make a mistake, but the ladys he was with had other plans. So we kept moving. At about noon we spottted another great buck and decided to make a move. With the sunbeating down a scorching 34 degrees this hunt turned fairly extreme persuay. With sweat pooring down we finaly made a visual with the buck again. He was at a cool 312 yards and trying to leave. So i got on top of a hill and waited for a broadside shot. When the 270 barked the 140 grain accubond found its mark directly behind his front shoulder and exiting his right shoulder. With the buck making two steps and falling over out of sight in the grass, i rolled off the gun only to find my partner dog piling on me yelling " hes dowwwwnnn." After some quick pictures, a cape and quarter we were on our way out.We ended up making one more staulk on another great buck the day after and killing yet another great buck. Both bucks were above average for the area and the staulks were even better. If i can suggest a hunt to anyone that is looking for a bit of a change, id say head to wyoming. Theres plenty of antelope to look at and the hospitality is unreal. There no real issues at the ling (if homework is done) and the meat is great. Working on pics
