Has anyone used a portable electric bear fence? If so pros cons...... Do you think it would keep bears away from the meat pole?

had a buddy, deathly scared of Bears,,, so he wired his (our) camp one year with a 60,000 volt electric cattle fence,,,,

about 2 am; one night Bruce went out to take a leak,,,

a Blood curdling scream like a Sasquatch in Rut,

Bruce took down the electric Bear fence next day,, never saw it again on another moose hunting trip!

My dad use to keep bees and had them out in the bush most of the summer.
For most bears the bees themselves kept them away from the hives and the fence was just a good first defence.
That being said he did have on a couple occasions where the hives were nocked over and fence was trampled.
I am thinkin that on a meat pole, a fence aint gonna stop a grizz or a large blackie ifn he wants it.

Yes and yes. Just make sure you got it juiced up real good and make sure you don't piss on it. Also, make sure you've got several strands so he can't get under or over it before he gets shocked.

Any bell you can put on a hound collar

How do you put the bears in the fenced area in the first place? Great idea as it would be really safe once they are corralled up!
