Just wondering if the elk rut is over near Elkford.We're heading up this weekend for a two week hunt.

I live here in Elkford, the last time I was up the Elk Valley there was still a few bulls bugling.

Yes, the rut is officially done as of the 30th.

Should have come here for Sept.20,could at least have nailed a big fat cow elk.

I just returned from the Elk Valley this morning our group took two 6 point bulls and we seen quite a few legal bulls high on the slides , we watched one yesterday in the AM he had 9 cows with him and we could not make out for sure weather he was legal or not ,We called but he would not leave the cows , just kept calling back even to a bull challange call he stayed with them , lots of grizzly activity as well , Great place to hunt Elk the scenery was second to none .We did several hikes into the slides and it was tough going but it did pay off.
