Last evening I bagged my first bow buck, a small 'knuckle' buck. Will be good eating for sure. One shot at 20 yards. 600 gr of arrow with 3 blade head sent by my 62# widow went right thru the front right shoulder blade and came out right behind the left shoulder as the deer was moving when I release the arrow. The deer ran 15 yards and crashed. Will be good eating, but not a trophy by some people's standard.

One thing I want to share with others here is trying to practice at dusk more. That's what I've been doing all the time. It's especially important for us bare bow hunters!

Thanks guys! One benefit of bow hunting is that I don't have to drive a hundred KM to my rifle honey hole. My wife can still send text to me while I'm in the bush. LOL

I wouldn't really say that is a benefit to your bow hunting, I think that is more of a con. HAHA.

Joke's aside, good job getting a buck with a bow!

Awesome .... Great job ....
Its always special to harvest an animal with your bow .... But just a word of warning ... you will never beat the feeling of your first

Mikey's right - but what a feeling, eh? Good for you. You'll always remember your "first". Even though you may get some 'racks' in the coming years, that first one will always be special.

Congratulations

Good for you, it is quite a felling isn't it? My first dozen deer were bow kills, I truly appreciated each and every one of them!

Every animal harvested with a bow should be a trophy in everyones eyes. Its easy to smack an animal with a rifle but where the rifle barks is when the bow hunter starts his hunt, congrats to you on a great trophy!! I hunt with rifle and bow and there is no comparison, the bow hunter on average needs way more hunting skill then the rifle hunter on average.
