It would have to be a big bugger for me to shoot it in October or something with a bunch of character.

I like to shoot a nice 2 pointer in October for meat and save a tag for a bigger November buck.

I don't plan on killing a deer in Oct. But I do hope my daughter shoots one. And any buck will do. If she does, I guess I won't be shooting one in Nov. either. :)

Any bucks a good buck for me because I am still looking to bag my first deer!

First buck gets it. Gotta save gas this year. No not road hunting but driving to my spots.

I picked first legal buck, only if I am packing the bow.

Normally it's the first legal buck I get a chance at. But as the kids both got one already, I'd like a larger boy. If it's not to be, then I'll take 2 bears and be happy till next spring!!

Im in university so 4 days off including driving and ferry's is all I get. So come the last day or 2, which means after the first day... big or small its all meat in the freezer.

I'm looking for a MD buck big enough to do 20 lb batches each of pepperoni, smokies, fryers, and garlic coils. Or, I'll shoot a smaller one and supplement it with a WT doe.

The cut 'n' wrap cow elk already in the freezer will make holding off for a fat deer a bit easier. October MD are very good eating, IMO.

Gotta shoot the first one I see, then pass on a bunch and shoot another little one in a panic at the end of the year!

Big fat blocky bucks with large dark antlers simply taste better than little runty wannabe maters that barely have any balls! The dominant buck is as my rancher friend said 'on the mend' meaning it is healthy and ready to eat. The young ones aren't ripe yet, literally. After following said rancher's advice, I'll easily pass up on spikers and forkhorns. Good field and caracss care and expert cutting make a huge difference too.

But I'll make an exception for my daughter's first deer!

I've said it before, "If the freezer is full, my buck will have to be wall worthy". I've put a bull elk in the freezer already so you already know the rest.

Its gotta have character or be a great buck to hit the ground in October. Can't affect my annual november deer hunt to the Kootenays.

i said first legal buck but thats all dependent on where i m. if i m huntin region 8 ya first buck gets it. i like to hold the region 3 tag for a big one lookin for something bigger then 165. unless its gettin close to the end of the season then i will take any legal 4 point. my freezer is gettin low and with not gettin any draws this year i need to fill it with something

About 6 inches bigger than the big one I have, but if you punch your tag in October, you have nothing to do in the cold Month of November!

Since this will be my first big game animal; the first legal one I see goes down.

Well I'm not getting much time to get out this year, other than my moose trip and seeing as there is any buck season while I'll be there if it has bone up top he's gonna drop! Second week is 4pt or better so I'll have to hold out for something better then if I don't get anything the first week. I'm really just looking for a filled freezer.

I will shoot the STINKIEST' mule deer Buck in the immediate area,,,,,,,,,,,

that way way I'm well assured he is over 180 B&C

I said "any 2 pt. or better" but that's because there are so many spikes running around that I think I could always put meat in the freezer. If I had nothing and my hunting time was running out.... anything legal gets dumped.

Shoot a bear if all you're going to do is turn it into sausage.

Definitely heading into your 'secret region 3' wt spot to pound does.

Anytail and I pounded that all day yesterday - didn't even see a MD doe over there. Did let a shooter b'ar walk though. And let a "definite shooter" b'ar walk later in the day closer to home. Maybe next time.

I headed over to Reg 3 friday eve on the TW. Saw squat and never even heard a gunshot. Thought there would be more action for first day of any muley buck season:?.

Got bored and got one bull to talk to me....but didn't see him.
