HI Guys,

We are going up to Christian Valley coming weekend of Oct 01, before the long weekend rush heads out that way. I am just wondering if anyone has been up that way recently and can provide some update.

Thanks for all your help.

I was up there opening weekend and drove around for 2 days. I saw 1 doe. haha. But it was a full moon and nothing seemed to be moving anywhere. Hopefully its better for you this weekend!

Temperatures are still very warm. Suggest you concentrate on higher elevations eg. Rendell Creek/Goatskin. Good Luck.

Heh, I'll be heading up there this weekend too, shadow. My dad grew up in that area and we're planning to check out his old haunts while hunting around up there. We'll be camping up near the damfino creek bridge, but that might change depending on what we find out about deer activity once we're up there.

Good luck. I have a first-hand report of the Indians having over 70 deer hanging in their camp just before the season opened for BC's taxpayers. :(

Shouldn't traditional hunting be done with a sharpened stick. They never had guns for traditional hunting before. It's a shame. You should see the elk slaughter around Princeton as well. Some animals never made it out of the bush as it would have been some hard work to get them out of their bushy resting spot.

Unfortunately it's human nature to take advantage of any situation if given the opportunity. Thats all I have to say on that topic.

Is the Nevertouch Lake campsite accesible again?

Yes the campsite is open again but its like camping in an open field, hardly a tree within about 1/2 mile. They cleaned it up pretty good.We came back on the long weekend got a small 4 point muley a 4 point whitey and a big spike muley. The weather was pretty warm so the deer were in the thick stuff and you had to go after them.

Was up there hunting up east Copper Creek for a week, definitely still too warm (I think the coldest we seen it was -5* @ 6 am). We were up Rendell Cr, Centre Mtn, all the slashes between 55 and 65 km, lots of ground covered. The deer are moving but they're definitely spooked from the heavy hunting so I'd try the quieter areas (further up). Lots of mulie in the area too so grab a tag for them too. LR

Who knows. I hope they go back where they came from, and stay there.

Anytail and I did the CV yesterday - one mulie doe with twins, that's it. Either the weather is too warm, or the Indians killed all the WTs. :-|
