Has any one had experience with an H&R single shot youth model brake action shot gun? my boy is looking to buy one and I have no idea if it is a good buy or not.

I have an oldy H&R topper 48, works fine, the hammer through it's life has become weaker on the f/Pin, some one welded a drip on it, still works good.

Depends on the price your getting it for ..... you do get what you pay for. If it is functional, safe, 1/2 decent shape 75 to 100 bucks.

I have had one for 15 years and no problems so far. I love the gun because it breaks down and fits in my duffel bag for fly in hunts. Deadly on grouse.

Just make sure the fore stock is well attached and the clip is not warn down so that the stock can just fall off.

Cheers

Good gun for the money. I've seen a few with really nice wood too!
