well, put a dent in the freezer with my first ^4point:mrgreen: was out in reg 3 this past coupla days-saw lots of deer-mostly young bucks and very young bucks. wish this guy was a couple years older, but he should make good dinners nonetheless.

arrived late on the second last morning, got off my quad in my regular hunting area, and started to walk. Not 2 mins later, this guy shows up huffin at me.

I put the binos on him-legal, but decide I'm gonna let him walk. I kept my eye on him for about 15-20 mins ducking in out of valleys before i thought better of myself-never having shot a mulie bigger than a fork, I figured why turn down a gift?

so I start after him, but he's decided to take off behind a hill. so I crest the hill slowly, and nothing-figures, I say to myself.

But wait-the binos come in handy once again!

He hadn't spotted me yet, and i guess he thought i wasn't much of a threat to begin with. But a slight change in wind direction would change that pretty quick. It didn't look as if he was going to be around much longer so-
After finding a nice steady rest-he would be the 1st buck to get a ride on the new quad.

the rest is now hanging in my garage!

and yes-it was damn hard trying to lift him onto the back of my quad!
Like my ramp?
http://i497.photobucket.com/albums/rr331/cainer1/Hunt09056.jpg

the next day I decided to try out my new bow-turns out I can hit ditch chix at 10 yards no problem(after one miss of course)!

I learned a very valuable lesson when shooting at grouse. Only shoot when there's grass behind them, otherwise your arrow will skip off the dirt and fly into the bush, making recovery of said arrow very difficult.
Oh- and judo points rule!

Hey congrats to you.
A little thing to help get him on the quad.
Drag him to the center of the quad head first, lift and pull him towards you from the other side sliding it up the rear fender and onto the rack, guts towards the back, works like a tinkers dam. I've done this with big mulies all by my self no problem.

Give it a try.

I'll be sure to try that out with my elk:mrgreen: ....

Finally finished slicin' dicin' and wrapping him up. into the freezer. you'd think after being a meat cutter for six years, i'd be a bit quicker-4 freakin hours!

Nice deer. Glad to see you managed on that little Honda and you did not fall apart because of the solid rear axle.:-D

I have the same one and it is a great little machine.
